Expanding Horizons: SEMP Supports Six New Municipalities
The Smart Energy Municipalities Project extended support for the introduction of the municipal energy management system (EMS) to additional six municipalities: Mat, Puka, Lezha, Shijak, Devoll and Gjirokastra. During July 2024 the representatives of the Swiss Embassy and SEMP team visited six municipalities which confirmed their interest and commitment to local energy and climate action.
As a first step, six municipalities formed their Municipal Energy Management Units responsible for the introduction of EMS and preparation and implementation of Municipal Energy and Climate Action Plans. The SEMP project will support new municipalities in the introduction of the energy data management tool Enercoach, as well as by conducting preliminary energy assessments in public buildings thus facilitating access to donor finance for the reconstruction.
